Exhibition Outline: I would like to highlight my personal lived experience, and journey of Black hair. The body of work will explore different dynamics within the emotional relationship that Black women carry within their hair.

Kawama Kasutu a 23 -year-old Self-taught Zambian born Artist, multidisciplinary artist from Dartmouth , NS Mediums include Painting, Sculpture, Textiles and Digital Mixed Media.

The Inspiration in her work often blooms from within her communities, her passions for craftivism, community building and self-expression. Kawama’s Artist voice is bright and often full of patterns and figures inspired by her Cultural heritage. Kawama’s work often highlights concepts of ‘art-making practices that engage or celebrate the Black body’, the ‘critical discourse on accessibility, inclusion, and social equity’, and the ‘artistic explorations at the intersection of the body and identity’..
