Michael Gerhartz picked up his first underwater camera in 1993, which started a passion that is still growing 30 years later. His career allowed him to pursue his fascination with wildlife photography above the surface all over Canada. During the last several years, Michael worked as a photo guide in the Rocky Mountains, BC’s coastal area, and as a polar bear guard and film crew guide on Hudson Bay. With his images, Michael wants to capture a moment, tell a story, show emotions and spark the viewer’s interest. His goal is to show you how you would have seen the wildlife. All images are taken under ethical wildlife photography guidelines, meaning no baiting of animals took place, and no camera traps were used. His pictures are published in several media and have placed in the top ten of the 2023 International Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition. Michael is also an 8-time international Award-winning author.
